Junior PBA event – An Introduction to Appellate Advocacy
Registration: 5.15pm, coffee & tea on arrival
Event times: 5.30pm – 6.45pm, with refreshments to be provided at the end
Speaker: Mark Warwick KC
Mark Warwick KC has appeared in every tier of court, including the House of Lords and Supreme Court. His reported cases exceed 200.
The Junior PBA invites you to join this in-person seminar providing an invaluable introduction to appellate advocacy.
Recent practice statements from the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal have encouraged greater participation by junior counsel in advancing oral arguments in appropriate cases. Indeed, in all suitable cases these courts now expect consideration to be given to a speaking part for junior counsel.
Nonetheless, conducting appellate advocacy in the higher courts for the first time can be incredibly daunting. This session is intended to give junior practitioners a practical understanding of how to do appellate advocacy and how to adapt your style in the higher courts. There will be plenty of time to ask questions.
Attendance by junior practitioners and pupils is highly recommended!
Please note: This event is for members and pupils only.
